Österreichische Kinder-Krebs-Hilfe (ÖKKH; Austria's Children's Cancer Aid)

 

• was founded in 1988
• operates throughout Austria
• is an independent, non-profit association that is mainly financed by private donations and is awarded the Österreichisches Spendengütesiegel (Austrian Donation Seal of Approval)

• is a member of the international children's cancer relief organisation CCI (Childhood Cancer International)

The six regional state associations mainly provide direct assistance to families who are in a financial squeeze due to the illness of a child and take care of the financing of child-appropriate equipment on the oncology wards.

The mission of Österreichische Kinder-Krebs-Hilfe is to provide comprehensive support for children and adolescents suffering from cancer as well as for their families.

Österreichische Kinder-Krebs-Hilfe has the following responsibilities as an advocacy group for affected families:

• Information and counselling for affected families
• Raising public awareness of the taboo topic "Cancer in children and adolescents"
• Psychosocial aftercare of children and adolescents with cancer as well as their parents and siblings
• Support for research activities: funding documentation assistants and annual award of the Science Prize for work in the field of paediatric oncology.
